Leak Detection Tips

  • How do I check for a pool leak and evaporation rate
The bucket test is one of the easiest ways to determine if you have a pool leak and observe the evaporation rate of your pool. Here's how you do it: Take a five-gallon bucket and fill it 2/3 full. Place the bucket on the first step going into your pool. Mark a line on the inside of the bucket at the water line. Now mark the outside of the bucket where the water level of your pool is when your pool is in the off state. Check again in 24 hours. Compare the outside mark to the inside mark. If there is a noticeable difference, your pool level is dropping faster than the evaporation rate. You have a leak.
  • Could my leak just be evaporation?
That is possible. There are a number of factors that dictate your evaporation rate such as: Ambient temperature Pool cage Proximity to larger body of water Pool heater Frequent windy conditions As you can see, the evaporation rate of your pool is not static. This is why your rate might different substantially from another pool located elsewhere. Every pool is different.
  • How long does it take to find a manifold?
Unfortunately there is no exact number. Every home is different and every plumbing system is designed differently.
  • Is gas tracing harmful to pets in my home?
We use only inert, non-toxic gas in tiny amounts for our gas tracing services. Your family and your pets are safe.
